Hey! I’m Lindsay. I was raised in a rural farm town (Salem, NY—pop. 1000) where at an early age, storytelling became my escape from the mundane. Despite having no exposure to the arts, I knew I wanted to work with cameras. How? I couldn’t say—it was a hunch, or maybe it’s in my DNA. My grandfather, Sonny, worked on a farm and in a mill his entire life—and he almost always had a Polaroid camera in his hand. I only realized he had an extraordinary eye when viewing his photographs after he passed away. If I haven’t picked up a camera in too long, I do it for him.
While enrolled at Wesleyan University, I pursued a major in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography. This is where I discovered the darkroom and the world of filmmaking. Upon graduating in 2011, I moved to New York City to begin freelancing in photography and film production. I began falling in love with narrative filmmaking. Various scripts started to take shape, and I even acted in a couple films—but then my health unraveled due to years of undiagnosed Lyme disease.
In 2015, unable to function due to Lyme, I wound up living back home with my mom in upstate New York. Through a chance encounter at a local doctor’s office, I connected with another filmmaker in the same situation. We spent the next seven years making a feature documentary exposé about the disease that had upended our lives. The Quiet Epidemic had a robust festival circuit (Hot Docs Int’l Film Festival, DOC NYC, Hamptons Int’l Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival etc.) followed by a limited theatrical run across North America. As of May 2023, you can watch The Quiet Epidemic at home.
I’m now co-leading The Quiet Epidemic’s impact campaign—our current focus is taking the film to Congress where we’ll call for a Congressional hearing regarding the state of Lyme diagnostics and therapeutics. I also host a virtual writing group called Pressure Release and coach people through birthing creative projects of their own. I wear many hats—director, producer, writer, photographer, cinematographer, graphic designer, project launcher, fundraiser, creative coach and who knows what else? I also have a special passion for psychedelic medicine.
